Eagle along Mount Vernon Trail


 

 
This morning, while riding my bike along the Mount Vernon trail, just south of the Memorial Bridge, a jogger stopped me to point out a rare find. This bald eagle was on a low tree branch close to the Potomac, and not bothered by a few bikers and joggers nearby.  When I returned to the spot about an hour later, the eagle had moved on.  In more than 4 decades of riding this trail, it is my first siting of an eagle.
