last night 4
Hello! Last night was a great success thanks to everyone's hard work and input. The vibe was so positive and as I looked around, I saw so many happy people enjoying the night. Oka was really an ideal space for the event...thanks so much Susan. Thanks to Yuji and Andrew for leading speeches and raffle drawing. Yuki: thanks for being on top of all the important details. Volunteers were amazing! Thanks to chef John...food was perfect for the event. I heard many people remarking on the delicious and interesting creations. We had enough to drink! Raffle was such a good idea. And I am happy I got a premium sake!! I will touch base with brown paper tickets to see what the net was: how much will go to JAA through pay pal and how much will be paid to JAA with a check from BPT. thank you notes to donors? please let me know what I can do in this wrap up phase. Otsukaresama! to everyone. great night. Maki

Updates and questions 37
Hi Everyone, I want to give a few updates from my end and ask a couple of questions regarding the flood relief benefit. Chef John is getting sake donations from World Sake Imports and Skurnik Wines; they will deliver the bottles to OKA. Still trying to procure more raffle items. So far we have Hiro Sake, a Japan Society package that includes a dual membership and tickets to select events, and dinner for two at Sakagura. I'm picking up the Sakagura gift certificate on Monday. If anyone has any others, please let me know. I updated my website to include these as well as the sake donations. http://www.japanculture-nyc.com/japanese-community-to-hold-flood-relief-fundraiser-at-oka/ Yuji, Rona Tison from Ito En says that she can arrange for you to pick up the tea donation from their Dumbo warehouse on Wednesday, August 22. Will that work for you? The address information: 50 Gold Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Call 718-250-4000 a half an hour before you pick it up. THANK YOU! If this doesn't work for your schedule, let me know, and I'll put you in touch with Rona. Yuji, were you able to get any donations from JFC? Yuki, I like the idea of printing a couple of posters. Sorry about the last line about on the flyer. I think I suggested the 's. In my head it reads "the Japanese American Association's Flood Relief Fund," so it doesn't look like a typo to me. Were you able to change it to what you want? I'll keep pushing the event on social media. I'm sure we'll get more ticket sales in the next few days. New Yorkers are very last-minute planners. Thanks for everything! Susan -- Susan Hamaker Writer/Editor, JapanCulture•NYC.com smhamaker@... http://www.japanculture-nyc.com 917.864.6457 (cell)
