Mark I found and got the BY-2 Bencher paddles wired and ready to go. The BY-2 differ from the BY-1 in that the steel base is chrome plated instead of painted black. I still have a BY-1 that I bought new about 40 years ago. Neither is pristine but I will keep it for memories. 73 Robin

Club Members I have been contacted by a lady who is visually impaired who needs a ride to testing as well as a return ride home. Whoever would need to stay for the duration of testing to provide the return home ride. She lives in the northland on North Charlotte St. It looks like it is near 152 and 169. The link to the KC Wide room has been repaired. Talk about a journey. For those that weren't aware, the Wires X node (Radio and HRI-200 that form the bridge between our repeater and the KC-Wide Room), had been previously located at Bryan Parkhurt (N0KW)'s home. Last week he had some remodelling done and the crew tearing out his driveway damaged the Google FIber link to his house rendering him with no internet. There was already discussions in the work to move the node from his location, at his request. SO we went ahead and packed everything up and moved it to its new home. Upon hooking everything back up the computer that runs the WiresX software refused to power on. Turns out the Power Supply on the machine was bad (it's an integrated power suppy, not easily replaceable). So we scrambled to put a temporary computer into service. Then when we hooked up the new computer, we discovered that the instructions weren't exactly complete on the WiresX settings needed. So with Rick and Jerry's help, we were able to configure the new install of Wires X. HOWEVER we noticed the audio getting to the repeater was garbled... So we began testing all of the feedline, connectors, antenna, antenna height, settings etc. All of the things that CHANGED because certainly, it had to be one of those things RIGHT? Turns out, not so much. After checking every single piece of the puzzle EXCEPT the actual radio... we finally put a watt meter on the radio and determined that the FTM-400 that we use for this link was sick... the PA FInals in our radio are likely blown... the FTM-400 was generating about 4.5w of forward power on high instead of the expected 50w. This is a somewhat common issue with the FTM-400 because it has inadequate cooling to begin with. From Bryans location way up on a hill and a little closer those 4.5w were making the trip ok... from it's new location its just not quite enough... SO, today we swapped out the FTM-400 for a loaner FTM-300 (my personal radio) and voila we are finally back online. The FTM-400 will go in to have the finals officially looked at and possibly replaced (finding parts is becoming difficult for that model, but if it can be found reasonably we will get it repaired). Thank you all for your patience, this has been a "if it could go wrong, it would" type of situation. The good news is that we have a much more intimate understanding of our equipment now... and we are BACK ONLINE! Many thanks to Bryan for hosting this for so long, and to Joe (KG0HG) and Wayne (KF0KTE) for all your help in testing each piece of this while I worked through each and every component to see where the issue was.
