Using a WKmini attached to port 8. From what I understand the F keys in N1MM will not work unless you use a Wkmini or Winkeyer. Doesn't work for me if the Winkey port is in use by W4Icom or N1MM, in either case the Icom 7300 will go into transmit, but not send any code. Radio is set to Straight key. Any thoughts? Mike KE0QKF

Hi. So far, I have been using my Winkeyer connected to a remote rig. I’ve only been using its key in and USB jacks. This weekend, I hope to connect to at least one rig at our local club’s Field Day operation, and use the memory buttons and speed pot. I have a dual RCA to 1/8” stereo cord, and a 1/8-to-1/4” adapter. Is there anything else I need to configure, either in the Winkeyer or on whatever radio I am using? For instance, do I need to switch the key type to straight key on the rig, so all timing comes from my Winkeyer? And which Windows utility do I use to program the four memory buttons on my unit? Is there a way to do this without software, i.e. just key in the text I want to store with my attached paddle? Thank you in advance for help with these most basic questions. Today I was having trouble working a DX station on 15 meters. He kept coming back to me with different busts of my actual callsign (i.e. "M4R" , "W4R", etc). At first I thought it was QRN on his end, but then it occurred to me that my leading dit might be getting chopped or shortened. I operate a K3S remotely using VA2SQR's Win4K software. When I switched from PTT to VOX, he came back to me right away with the correct call. That surprised me because I thought I had PTT lead time (i.e. negative delay) setup on my Winkeyer to prevent that. Then it occurred to me that I was doing that with my other Winkeyer which is controlled via N1MM+. The PTT lead time for that Winkeyer is set via a setup screen in N1MM+. The Winkeyer that I was using for the DX QSO is setup as an internet client via WinKeyer Remote Control in case I want to use my paddles remotely. When I checked the setup parameters in the WinKeyer Remote Control software, it wasn't obvious to me from the parameters names what some of the parameters do. In appendix C of the "WKUSB Manual v 1.1", I found info on the PTT lead and tail times. I was also able to find descriptions of the other parameters that can be entered via the Winkeyer Remote Control software setup screen, EXCEPT for one, which is labelled "1stExt". Does anyone know what the parameter "1stExt" is supposed to do? Is it explained in the manual somewhere? Thanks, Mike W4EF............
