Saw a decal I wanted on eBay. 3 sets was $9.00, which seemed a little high for 3 boxcars. I saw others that were selling the brand for even higher. Anyone used them that can give any insight into quality? Ken N Oxnard, CA

All, I have an Oriental Limited/Samgongsa 2-8-0 that I’d like to remove the smoke box door, if possible. Has anyone done this with one of these before? We tried wedging a hobby knife blade to force it loose with no success. We don’t see evidence of it being soldered. Thanks for any help, Ken N Oxnard, CA

Here is my Road to a Better Understanding: I tested my fleet of N Scale...and found a basic need for a 32 inch radius on the outside of a Helix with a 7" straight between the curves. I did this back in 2016-2017..maybe a post to attest to all this from that Time. I seem to share this concept with N Trak Modules...despite their written 24 inch radius...I found the above at 32 inches. I agree, not by reading...but by testing my fleet. My inside radius is 28 inches with Kato Unitrack...I Razor Sawed the 28 inch radius to produce the 32 inch outside radius as a Kato Flex Track. I again further enhanced the corners with additional 8" straight sections...as again shown above. So every 45 degree turn was again enhanced wth an additional straight on the Helix.. Again Tested. I am not a very good armchair modeler (nor Club Mamber) as I tend to disagree with everything written...including NMRA Specifications. However !?!?! I did not read these as Tested Results on any forum//book until today. Meaning....? Some body down at N Rail knows what they are trying to do. I see the name Dale Bluet and the date 2/2018 on the above e corner module. Thank him for me.... Until I saw his drawing...I had thought I was all alone in my Minimal Helix Concept with an outside "tested" radius of 32 inches. I further created ultra Light Modules which are surprisingly much like the ones I see T-Track use on their corner. Almost to the exact specifications. Even my transition curves are very similar. What I did wrong or not so correct. I went down to TAP Plastics to have one level made for me by my original drawings.... Oops! They had quoted me $150 or something like that....but when presented with the finish sections. $440.00 Their quote did not include Labor. I had won big that day, playing Texas Hold em...so half my winnings went to my Helix Template. This turned out to be a good thing, as I then had a standard template to construct more levels. Here is the other shoe to drop. I kept the turns flat and the 1.5% Grade on 8 foot long modules. between the curved modules. Meaning the Helix is as big as a California Queen Sized Bed... Which in my last House/Train Room, I took advantage and put a bed under it. Then I moved in 2018... In order for me to use such a Helix today, between my High and Low Layouts... I will be cutting a Hole in the Back Bedrooms Wall and building a Lean To Structure to house my Helix. :)) Mark Muddville, California. My "optimal" radius is 44 inches however...mostly due/do to my other primary hobby of Photography. I also have one prototype radius of 71 inches, just for Looking At through the Lens of a Nikon. PS....I don't believe in so called Minimal Radius at say 9 3/4's inches. Hence...I am in complete agreement to keep This Forum Advertising Free. My "Tested" minimal radius using the Bachmann Acela as a Guide is 22 inches for Traction. 28 inches ...Cause Kato Unitrack makes that radius However...My Go To Radius or Optimal Radius is 44-46 inches, as I can fit such a radius as Tested further on 4 x 4 Ultra Light Modules. > I have one prototype radius for now...but hope to have more in my layout's future.
