Just a reminder that Knighton Spinney – that delightful natural woodland in Knighton Park – is open this Sunday from 12 noon until 3pm. The weather forecast looks good, so if you’ve never visited the Spinney before, this is a good time to come and enjoy a stroll through the woodland. There is a good path through the Spinney, suitable for pushchairs and wheel chairs, but cycles and dogs are not permitted.   David Siddons

Spanish for Beginners part 2 at Wigston Library on Tuesdays (term time) 12 to 2pm through GoLearn LCC.   This is primarily a Spanish Conversation class and we are a small, very friendly mixed group in our 2nd year and have a fantastic Spanish tutor who makes it great fun, is patient and covers a variety of topics.  We are in need of a couple more people to join us in order to continue.  Please contact me if Interested and you can come along for a ‘taster’ session. Hi all   Just an update on how our group is progressing. We now have 14 members, though so far not much activity! Our group now has 8 members, but be patient, and please don’t hesitate to start using it just as you would have done with Streetlife. These are early days, but hopefully we can attract more members as time goes on.   Just a note  that Knighton Spinney in Knighton Park reopens for the season on Sunday, 12th March (from 12 noon – 3pm). This is a nature reserve, and well worth visiting when you’re in the park. We have three volunteer wardens, which enables us to open three Sundays out of four, but we are looking for at least one more volunteer to enable us to open every week in the Summer.   David Siddons 0116 2887457

We now have six members of this group, and hopefully we can build it up. If you are still using Streetlife, maybe you could help by publicising our existence. On this group you can comment, chat etc just as you could on Streetlife – the main difference being that you will receive members’ messages as individual emails, though this can be altered. We don’t have all the baggagee of profiles etc that seems to be a feature of Streetlife’s successor, though you are always welcome to say a bit about yourself in messages. The only personal information that is displayed are your email address and the name which you have associated with it. If you have read this email OK, please replyto it to confirm so that I can see that it’s working all right.   Hot news! The Fun Day on Knighton Park WILL be going ahead this year. The City Council are no  longer running it, but a private events company has stepped in and it will be as big and as good as ever.
