Repeater stuff for sale
4
This may be a bit light for you hard core Repeater guys but I have the following surplus to my needs. ID-O-Matic IV repeater controller, 1 ID-O-Matic II repeater controller, 1 12-volt Thermostatic fan control module a set of 16 Pin connectors to interface with Motorola radios and a Programmable CW keyer HamGadgets Pico Keyer REV-B. I will include the manual for the ID-O-Matic II as it is an older product and is programmed VIA a RS-232 Serial port. The ID-O-Matic IV is programmed VIA a USB port and is a current product and documentation, and full support is available on their website. I also have the programming sheet for the remote sensor fan controller to turn on a fan when the heatsink temperature gets above the set point. The hysteresis is also settable to set the point where the fan cycles on and off. Everything including shipping for $75.00. PayPal, check or money order accepted.

RC-100
4
Good Day: I'm helping out a friend who has a pass down repeater that has an rc-100 controller. It's a GE MII mobile with a Motorola mobile for a link radio. Has been passed down through a couple of people, and the person that originally programed it is no longer around. The manual we have with it, was a 2.5 something if I recall correctly. We've been trying to change the ID on it, and have failed. So, a couple of questions: As best as I can tell, there is a prefix digit in place - 7. When entering commands, do you stay keyed up through the whole sequence, or un-key between the codes? i.e.: When entering the Programing enable code 1, so you stayed keyed and enter the Programing enable code 2, or unkey between them. With the prefix digit enabled, does the programing code become 7D7B, 7D7C? or do they stay just the code D7B, D7C? the repeater has a courtesy tone enabled. When I entered the programming codes, I still get the courtesy tones, but then after a short pause I got a two tone response - a lower tone, then higher tone. Is that the acknowledgement that I'm looking for? I've not been able to get any sort of other acknowledgement tones. And just to avoid confusion on my part, if e are changing the programming code, would the 4 digit code stay the same, or would it be prefixed with the 7? i.e. 4121 88 to change it to D88 (or 7D88) or would it be 74121 88. And then does the prefix digit precede the code D88 or 7D88. Thanks for your help. Repeater is about 40 miles away, and I'm reluctant to get too carried away, it's working currently, so trying to avoid making the situation worse. ASL on a TB8100
Just curious is anyone has done the work to set up a Tait TB8100 for AllStarLink. I'll be using a Masters Communications RA on a RasPi. I'm sure I can figure it all out, but why reinvent if someone has already done the work?? Thanks, -Scott, NS7C

Comscope DB408
12
Hey guys. Hope all is well. Hoping someone can help. The comscope DB40008, did they stop making an antenna for UHF for the ham split? It looks like they only do 450 to 470 now. Any ideas? Cheers, Jed

DR3000 tuning front end gain
2
DR3000 front end gain & attenuation tuning using Tuner v22.2, following the info in the help file for front end tuning it says "Configure the Communications Analyzer to output a RF signal level of -80 dBm " . It refuses to auto-tune unless I increase level to around -50dBm. Interestingly the service manual shows a 30dBm pad in-line with the RX. I have tried on 2 different units with the same error. Any thoughts?

FREE to a good home, just reimburse the shipping...
12
I have 25 pounds of (stuff) in a 5 pound garage.... SWMBO says some has to go. FREE just reimburse shipping... one MSR2000 PL card TRN5073 one MSR2000 DPL card TRN5076 one MSR2000 timeout timer card TRN5295 (the most popular card to strip and make something else, like a paddle board) one MSR2000 VHF documents set - (both manuals in a large 3-ring binder) two Micor Coded Squelch modules TRN6083 four Toughbook CF-28s. Unknown condition except that I know that none have a battery. Was given them after I had switched to a CF-30 as a field radio programming computer. one Radio Shack PRO-2002 scanner. several Trident TNT series LTR controllers (the generation prior to the Raider series). These are internally very interesting (technically)... they have BOTH a Zilog 180 AND a 68HC11 CPU, each has it's own PROM and battery-backed RAM. They communicate with each other via a parallel latch and a serial port. The box is managed by a terminal program at 2400-8N1. I have scanned schematics. One housing for a GR1225 I forget if the power supply is there or not. HEAVY! One UHF GR500 with 2 GM300s and power supply. I'd like to get a few $$ for this. HEAVY! One UHF GR500 with a high power R1225 module and power supply. I'd like to get a few $$ for this. HEAVY! One VHF GR1225 with a blown PA deck. Notchplexer is missing. You get to fix the PA. HEAVY! The ones marked HEAVY! would be best for local pickup in SoCal but I could take them to a box-and-ship place.... Not radio related: A Ford Aerostar heater core also new in the box. Factory core started leaking, I bypassed it. Bought this one, but it was summer and I stalled on installing it... 3 months later the Aerostar engine cratered. Not worth fixing... Bought a 4 cylinder Camry for $1200. 20mpg! The Aerostar went to the wrecking yard. The core sat on the shelf for 4 years. A new in the box set of ignition coils for a 2000 Camry 4 cylinder. I bought them and a few days later the car was totaled. Mike WA6ILQ

Motorola MTR 2000
13
Looking through the group there are dozens of questions specifically to the MTR 2000. However, I have just some general questions as I'm helping a club that has a MTR 2000 and is looking for a spare for them on ebay. Plus I'm a Kenwood person and I'm venturing into the motorola side feet first. Here we go! 1. What models of the the MTR 2000 can be used for Ham radio without modifications of the electronics inside? 2. Can the MTR 2000 be interfaces with most newer controllers on the market including allstar? 3. Are there model years to stay away from in the MTR 2000 and how do you tell by serial number? 4. I'm assuming these require a programming cable and software. Any idea how much this might be from Motorola directly or a dealer. 5. What is considered a good price for a gently used MTR 2000? That all I can think of for now. Starting here an see where this goes. Thank you Steven N8RLW

TKR-720 & TKR-820 VCO Tuning
13
I am looking at both a TKR-720 & TKR-820 for a friend. Both were previously programmed for the ham band and supposedly did work at one time. He thought that the finals were blown in both but it turns out that the reason for no output is that the VCO voltages are way out of range. For the TKR-720, the VCO voltage of both the TX VCO and the RX VCO should nominally be 4.0 VDC. The RX VCO is sitting at 8.07 and the TX VCO was at 0.27. I was able to adjust the TX VCO to about 2.4 VDC. The transmitter is working ok on 147.81 Mhz. Unfortunately, I can NOT get the RX VCO to adjust down from 8.07 VDC. I suspect that it may be the 150-174 Mhz band and 147 is just pushing it too far. Similarly, for the TKR-820, the VCO voltages should be 4.5VDC nominal. The TX was 0.05 but I can only adjust it up to 0.135. Not enough for it to work properly. The RX was at 8.02and I can only get it down to 7.92. It must be right on the verge of locking because I can faintly hear a very strong signal from the signal generator. Again it's just pushing the limit and probably as the units have aged, the components on the VCO have drifted and just won't accept the out of band frequencies like maybe they once did. The unit is spec'd at 450 to 470 Mhz and just can't make it down to 441.350 / 446.350. So (finally), my question is… Can anybody tell me how I might be able to tweak the VCOs to get them down into the ham bands? 73 Bob WB9RHW

Selecting 2-Tone Signalling Frequencies
14
I have some users interested in using 2-Tone signalling, similar to what Fire and EMS uses. Can't use DTMF as the repeater does not pass DTMF tones. Are there any norms for selecting the tones used? I know there are standard tones, but not which pairs of tones to use. Is there any kind of standard practice, or do you just sort of randomly pick two tones that sound good? Thanks. -- 73, Michael WA7SKG "Any day you do not learn one new thing is a wasted day."

Vertex Standard VX-5500-V Alignment CE-49
3
I have a group of Vertex VX-5500-V (hi-split VHF) mobiles that I was able to rewrite the firmware on with an editor and reprogram to 2M using CE-49 Windows version software. I don't see an alignment tab in the software to do the RF alignment although articles I've read suggest that there is one. Tried executing the CE-49 software from command prompt using the /d option but alignment tab doesn't show up nor is it referenced in the "help" section (comes up the same way as when executed from Windows 10). Is there a different (maybe older?) version of this S/W or another program to access alignment for this radio? If so, can anyone provide a source for that code? Thanks, Bob

Can't read MTR2000 - no response from station
10
Previously we were using a Windows 95 computer with the original software on it to connect to our MTRs. Now it can only boot in safe mode, and we are unable to connect through the serial com port using RS232-RJ45. So I dug around the shop to find an old Windows 7 laptop to install Windows XP mode, and created a virtual machine that we could install RSS to. We have the files from the original install in the 90s...No idea what happened to the floppies, though. Anyway; we were finally able to get that working, but now we STILL can't connect to the MTR. We have two that we are trying to connect to, one possibly faulty, one known good. I have tried a couple different cables, no go. VM has physical com ports enabled. Host machine has com ports with 9600 8N1, VM has com ports 9600 8N1. We're thinking that it's possibly a driver issue - we haven't installed any com port drivers. On Monday we'll be looking for USB-RS232 cables, since we don't have any at hand. Is there anything I'm missing? Any setting that has to be changed for RSS to work through a virtual machine? The exact error message is "no response from station" and "data not read" though sometimes it changes things up and tells us it can't open the com port at all. (Temperamental.)

Need to identify the OEM mate to this connector

Here is a picture of the DC connector on the front of an old Motorola power supply. Anyone ever source the male mate to this connector? I imagine this is a Waldom or Molex connector. Anyone? Kevin

Kenwood Molex Pins
6
Not exactly repeater related, but I know there are a lot of Kenwood users here. Kenwood mobile radio (TK790) has 9 and 12 pin Molex connectors, probably the same type as used on their base stations. I'm trying to figure out the size of the pins so I can order some replacements. Apparently, the Molex pins come in .093" and .062" sizes. Probably some other sizes, too. I was kind of hoping to find one of those assortment kits that have a whole bunch of sizes, but none that are for Molex connectors. Thanks for any help. Michael WA7SKG

Antenna suggestions hoping someone can help
2
Hey guys. Hope everyone is doing well. Alright, so we may need to replace our 30 plus year old repeater antenna. It's an old station master and it's on the very top of a hospital. I was thinking about the comscope DB408, but it doesn't look like they make that in a ham split any more. We're also thinking of doing something with VHF up there, so need an antenna for that. If anyone has ideas, and could let me know, that would be awesome. I wanna do this once. Cheers, Jed
