Earphone Jack Not Working 2
I've not found anything on this issue in search. I went through all the settings and changing a setting that looked like it might be relevant didn't fix this. I put my earbuds in the earphone jack and nothing. With the volume turned up all the way I can faintly hear the CW sidetone in the earbuds when I press the key. But definitely no signals. Has anyone experienced this and have a fix for it, or is it just a sign of old age. My SN is X0300749 and it's at least 4 years old. Thanks! w2nc EDIT: Same with a powered speaker hooked up. It's not the earbuds as they work on another radio.

DE19 Transmitting Blanks #data
I had my X5105 working with a DE19 previously. I switched over Digirig for a while because it is easier for field use. I switched back to the DE19 for use with the XPA125B, but now the transmissions are not registering on PSK reporter, i.e. it seems to be sending blank messages. Any ideas on wht could be wrong? TIA

DE19 use with a Mac
Has anyone been successful? According to the situation, it would be better to change to a Windows system to work with the DE-19, which may be more compatible. Hope that explains to you. Regards,NoraRadioddity Support Team...

V/M function not working 3
Digging the rig out after a long time and I cannot switch to memory from VFO. Neither the front panel V/M button or the one on the Mic works. Stuck in VFO mode. I have done a RESET but that doesn't fix it. V3.0.0,Nov 26 2019 X0300839 Mike

Lock button and backlight ver 3.0.0
I am using 3.0.0 Nov 27 2019 16:18:50 firmware. I got this from Radioddity. I have seen people mention release 3.0.0 6 or 8 of this firmware. Is there something newer than 3.0.0 Nov 27? Still trying to get the backlight to work. 73 John N4HNO

X5105 Battery rebuild 9
All I suffered the battery failure most of us have or will soon experience. Found a source but it has been out of stock for months. Who knows when they will be back on stock. So I pulled my battery out so I would not suffer a worse fate of that bad battery leaking. Stuck it on my bench for a good month. I thought what the heck and carefully took it apart. No big deal three lipo batteries in series with a battery management board on top. The replacement batteries were easy. Replacement shrink wrap sleeve easy. Soldering iron got many. It was the battery management board I worried about. Long story short don’t throw away your old battery if you ever want to rebuild your battery. The original battery management board will reset and the total cost is half of what the stores are selling them for when and if you can get them in stock. Plus I got the added advantage of getting 4ah batteries vs the stock 3.7ah. I took pictures and figured out how to wake up the battery management board. -- Tom AE5NF

5105 key clicks on CW
I have had my 5105 for a couple of years and like it. I was monitoring my keying on a receiver with the RF gain turned down and heard distinct clicks when I released the paddle. The clicks were not present on all characters sent, just when I let up on the paddle after a string of characters with a slight delay. It did this with a Bencher paddle and also when I used a bug. Other radios work fine with the paddle and bug. Has anyone experienced this? I haven't had any complaints on CW QSOs but wondered is this typical? Setting related? 73's John N4HNO

Low power output?
I was recently transmitting 20m SSTV using the DroidSSTV phone app which has no cat control so I toggled the PPT to "press on/press off" so I wouldn't have hold the mic button down through the cycle. I must have gotten called away for some reason while it was transmitting and it may have been 30-45 minutes before I returned to find the SSTV cycle had completed and radio still in transmit mode (red light on). Since that time the power meter seems to only register 1 to 3 watts in digital modes depending on the band, 17m being the most, 40m being the least. SSB output seems a bit higher but neither mode seems to push the meter to 5 watts. I don't have test equipment to verify the accuracy of the power output meter but I'm wondering if I damaged something during the prolonged transmit event that would affect the rf output. BTW, I don't recall the radio being being overly warm when I turned off transmit and I've since made some FT8 contacts, one with and rst of +10 from about 1,100 miles away. I've also compared the X5105 tx and rx with my X6100 and the X5105 rx seems to to have lost some sensitivity when I do a side by side comparison of FT8 signals decoded. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

X5105 Battery insides 2
Well, it happened to me, one day perfect battery then I put the radio away I come back and now completely dead after sitting in the box awaiting my next field trip. Very frustrating to say the least. Since "no user repairable items inside" never scared me and I am sure most of the folks on this board either... I took the battery out to ensure that it was not festering, like an iPhone battery to the point it crushes the motherboard. In fact, the battery looked fine. I know, looks are deceiving. So, I tried to charge it... nope. So, I have this dead battery on my desk and an xacto knife within reach, I said heck with it and cut the casing to find as I suspected 3, 3.7ish Lithium batteries in series with a cell balancer. I unsoldered the balancer and immediately the batteries sighed a sigh of relief and came up.... So, I charged them with a "real battery charger" and low and behold after 4 charges and discharges I have full power. So, the batteries are fine… the balancer is making us buy battery's we can’t find and don’t need. I have included my exploded (pun intended) picture of the battery pack and a closeup of the balancer with the manufacturer’s kindly buffed off IC tops. There is a way to wake up an upset battery balancer. Can anyone look at the close up of this balancer and tell me where I might need to hit it with some voltage to reset it? I'll let everyone know if it works and maybe save a few batteries from a land fill... or recycle box?. Thanks -- Tom AE5NF

5105 and DE19 4 #battery #data
I have a DE19 that I got as a promotion when I bought my 5105. I am trying to use WSJTX with and without Omnirig. I think I have everything set right on the radio, line in/out, filters off, etc. I also figured out my .com port on both omnirig and WSJT. I keep getting the same error of “rig not responding” I am waiting for cables for my DELL so I can try the CE19. Barring that, I will try digirig. Still, the DE19 is supposed to be better since it has a built in sound card. Has anyone tried it? -- Felix KI6EWN

Looking for help checking functionality 5
I bought a x5105 and it was just delivered. This is my first HF radio and I have yet to get my general. I've been playing around with it a decent amount and I haven't been able to recieve any signals yet. So I have been trying to figure out how I can check it's functionality. I have tried tuning to some beacon stations, RTTY frequencies, etc., and have not heard anything yet. I have a 16' random wire dipole center fed strung up on my patio... it's a concrete patio/deck about 10' up from street level and there's another smaller size deck above me. So it's definitely not ideal conditions for an antenna but at least it's outside with some decent sky exposure. I have a CB radio and from a few feet away it seems like the audio gets through when I monitor that, although the audio quality is sketchy, and AM from 10' away is way different from USB so I'm not really convinced this means anything. When I have the radio tune the antenna it is usually able to make an SWR around 1.2 or lower. I'm hoping this is just because I'm around a lot of QRM but I'm a little nervous it might be busted. So I'm hoping there's something I can do to check relatively foolproofly that it's working? Thanks

Any suggestion to improve modulation in SSB ? 6
Hi, I'm trying to have some QSO in SSB . I had some but most of people I talk to is telling me to improve modulation . I 'm using the original mike arrived with radio and as settings I have: COMP ON level 1:6 EQ ON (Bass , Medi, Treb all 0 db as default) In your experience , which setting should be the best for optimal modulation in SSB ? Is there anything else I can set to improve modulation ? I didn't try the internal mike so far, under the assumption that should be worst than the external mike. Thank you for any suggestion. 73 Bruno
