Липкий New ham groups added, new groups.io pricing structure on Jan 18, 2021 (long post, intentionally cross-posted)
First, the new pricing structure for NEWLY formed groups on groups.io beginning January 18, 2021. Basic (free) groups formed on or after that date stay free *up to 100 members*. After that, it will need to be upgraded to a premium group. Premium groups ($220/year) are good up to 400 members, after which a per-member fee ($.05 per month or $0.55 per year) is added to the $220 per year premium group fee. That will bring a burden on some new groups, so I created some more ham groups that may grow, or flounder, but I wanted to beat the deadline so those groups will not be charged extra fees, or any fees, for that matter. If they take off and are useful, that will be great. If they flounder, I might just delete the group if members agree, or if there are no co-owners by the time I review whether the group is worth keeping. If you were thinking of creating a group for one of your interests, THIS IS THE TIME TO DO SO before the new pricing structure goes into effect. If you need help with that, email me *privately* and if I'm not overwhelmed with requests, I will try to help. You must be willing to assume group ownership as I will leave the group after creating it and you've been made a group owner. If you need help getting started with the group, I can hang around for a short while and direct you to documentation on how to run a group. As for the new groups I created last evening, I will list their web addresses below. Please contact me *privately* ONLY IF you are interested in joining one of these groups AND ARE UNABLE to use the join button on the web site or find the join process confusing. I would like to avoid what happened when Yahoo closed their groups and I offered to help people if they were unable to join themselves. I was overwhelmed with requests to help, and I'm sure not all of those were from people who had difficulty joining, so please give it a try yourself first. Go to the site and press the join button on the group(s) you are interested in. Follow the simple instructions and you will be approved. All new members will be moderated for a short time so don't expect to post immediately. There's only one moderator right now (me), and I work for a living, sleep at night, and take naps because of my health condition in late afternoons sometimes. I donate some of my time for community work, am a minister, and have to wisely use my time. But I don't want anyone to not join one of these groups because they find it difficult to join. YOU CAN JOIN ANY OF THESE GROUPS BY EMAIL by sending a message to the subscribe address. Take the web address name at the end of the URL and change it by adding +subscribe@groups.io to it. For the FT-757 group (as an example): https://groups.io/g/FT-757GX Send an email to this address: FT-757GX+subscribe@groups.io no body text is required in the message, just the address, but to make your email program happy, you can put the word subscribe in the subject and message fields. These new lists are email reflectors only with no storage (a change that was made almost a year ago by GIO's owner). If I had created them before February 2020, they would have storage. We will work something out for storage if the groups get large enough and have a need for that. I will need moderators for these new groups, and soon after they get on their feet, a co-owner who has some real interest and hopefully experience with these different brands of radios. Contact me off-list if you are interested in volunteering with any of these groups. I will help you out with anything you need to know about how to manage a group as a moderator or co-owner. I will list the NEW groups first, then list the other amateur radio groups I created. Note that most of these are not model-specific and are "general-purpose" groups for a BRAND of radio or a general-purpose group for a type of equipment. I did not create any group for which there already was a general-purpose discussion group for that brand of radio, like Drake and some others. I am not interested in amassing a lot of groups to manage. My purpose is just to see that interes

Липкий New ham groups, also new pricing structure for groups
The next message is about some new groups I created to have a general-purpose discussion group for some brands of amateur radio equipment and radios before groups.io's new pricing structure goes into effect Jan 81, 2021. It is a long message, so I just wanted to give you a heads-up. I cross-posted it to all the groups I manage. I will be looking for moderators for the new groups and even some of the established groups, so if you're interested in helping, please email me privately about this. For the rest, please read my next post. It's a long and detailed one. Липкий Welcome new members
This group may take a while to "gain traction" with enough members to make a difference when someone posts a question. I created it as a general discussion group for all Yaesu radios and ham equipment. I'll introduce myself as a ham operator licensed back in 7th grade in 1967 or 1968 as a Novice operator. I eventually went for general but didn't pass the code test, so the FCC examiners asked me if I wanted to take the test for Tech, since it was the same written exam back then for general and tech. I went back several months later and had studies for advanced, since if I passed the 13 WPM code test I would at least have general. I passed the code test and the advanced exam and left with an advanced license. The next step was a big hurdle, but I studied and got to almost 25 WPM for the code test (the requirement was 20 WPM), and passed both several months later. I went for extra partly for the challenge and partly because I was tired of remembering where I wasn't allowed to transmit in a band. :-) I did all that except the novice part between 1980-82. I have a 102 ft doublet fed with 450 Ohm windowline and an MFJ auto tuner that I use with my 7300 and my recently repaired and mostly restored (I have a little more work to do on it to get the tuner and some little things working) Yaesu FT-767GX I bought for $50 and have about $30 in parts in it. FTDX10 Tuning and Transmitting somehow blocked after changing band 3
Dear OMs, I work my DX10 with an EFHW on 40/20/15/10m and a 1:64 Balun. Tuning was working fine for a while and I had rapports 55 to 59 within Europe. I never saw the "High SWR" warning in the display, worked SSB only and did either have SWR or Power displayed in the meter. I also checked operation with a chain of power attenuators. SWR 1.1 or less here without tuning. After Power up I can tune on the band where it is with the normal long relais klicking and also transmit with full power. When I switch the band eg. 7MHz to 14MHz and press the tune button long there is only a short relay click and tuning ends. No error message, it's just back in rx. With a short press I can switch tuning on/off. Now in this case there is no TX power output. When I try to send the TX light is on, power setting is at 100W but the power meter is fixed at zero. After a complete system power cycle I can transmit again with full power. The Device is ~3 Month old, nothing gets hot, all is clean. AS said above I get the same with antenna and attenuator at the output. Anybody an idea? Is there a way to delete stored tuner data only? I received the info to try a factory reset, but this would also kill my audio settings I did several weeks ago. 73 DC0LA

FT-530 Display when off - clock/battery How to select 3
I'm hoping there are some old-timers hanging around here. I have an FT-530 I've had since 1998. I use it a lot, and have not had a total memory failure in decades, until recently. While changing the memory backup battery, something went wrong and it went to "factory reset". I have restored all the important stuff, but one thing I had was the OFF display showed the battery voltage. Now it shows the clock. I can't find anywhere in the manual or my cheatsheets how to get back to the battery voltage display. I do know how to get the secondary display to show battery voltage, and that is not what I'm looking for. I also know how to set it to have nothing display when off. Anybody know what I'm missing? Yaesu FT-1000MP (plain version) Repair Question
My beloved Yaesu FT-1000MP (the plain version, not a MkV or Field version) has suddenly developed a problem. The faceplate momentary contact "button" that transfers the VFO-A signal to VFO-B does not operate when I push it in. The button next to it that alternates the frequency from VFO-A to VFO-B and vice versa works fine. I do not hear a relay "click" then I push the VFO-A to VFO-B button like I do with the VFO-A alternating VFO-B button on the faceplate. I've done a factory reset a few times, inspected the radio's chassis, wiring, circuit boards and all looks fine. No smoke, crackles, sizzles, etc. I'm far from a repair expert regarding issue like this and would appreciate any help offered. Tnx, 73, Bill / w0bp

Buy this unit with manual for $125. . TenTec 708A Desk Microphone: The 708 A desk mic is a standard desk mic. This one has an 8 pin plug wired for TenTec on it. This means it also fits Yaesu rigs with the round 8 pin plug. The 708 is a dynamic mic on a flexible goose neck and is entirely metal, with no plastic parts. It is similar to the TenTec 705 desk mic, but MUCH more heavy duty. This one works 100% and looks very close to new, with one exception. The little peg used for PTT has been broken. If you use VOX it will be just perfect for you, as it works great on VOX. Otherwise, you can activate the PTT switch with tip of a pen or a small screwdriver, or you could replace the switch. . Yaesu NC-9 B Charger 13 V DC at 45 ma, 2.5 mm plug; $12 . Original Yaesu Manuals: These are the manuals only. All are originals, and not copies. Most are in close to new condition. FNB-9,10,11,12 Battery packs, $2 FC-757AT Antenna Tuner, $10 FT-100 HF/VHF Transceiver, $18 FT-470 Dual Band HT, $10 FT-757 GX, HF Transceiver, $18 FT-720 R, 2 meter mobile, $8 FT-1802 M, 2 meter mobile, $12 FT-2700 Dual Band Xcvr, $12 FTH-2005 HT, $5 FTS-8 tone squelch unit, $3 FTS-12 tone squelch unit, $3 MH-1B A2B speaker microphone, $2 SP-101 P, Speaker / Phone patch, $5 VX-1 dual band HT, $10 Maintenance Service Manual for Yaesu FT-208 R 2 meter HT. FS: Yaesu mobile mounting bracket
I have for sale a Yaesu mobile mounting bracket that came with a FT7100 I purchased last year. It isn't exactly the MMB-36 but fits the radio and works with any other Yaesu that takes the MMB-36 which includes the FT1802/1900/3000/7800/7900/8000/8100/8500/8800/8900 and maybe others. It comes with screws to attach it to the radio, and screws to attach it to your vehicle or other location. I am asking $13 shipped in the US and can take paypal/check/MO. 73 John AF5CC Sent using Zoho Mail
