Design a Charging Station
3
A challenge for the trailer crew to work out - we need a charging station that does not take up room on the counter tops. Here is a more complete list of requirements: _ keep charging items off of the table _ allow for multiple devices, _ allow for HTs, _ be able to place the charging station outdoors (net controls can charge devices at their stations inside) So what would that look like, where would it go, and what is the best power supply? Notes: The charging station is for us, not the general public. Just like the American Red Cross, our disaster services technology is for our staff's use - our staff being Amateur Radio event volunteers,. The comms trailer is designed to provide a place to operate safely, securely, and comfortably for 4 different local Amateur Radio groups in various communications situations. To that end, one of the most important aspects of the trailer - does it have enough and the right kind of power to meet its mission? Currently we have: 1) AC "shore power" which is the ability to plug in to mains supplied 120 V AC power, with a 30 amp breaker box, indoor and outdoor lighting, and several interior 3-prong outlets. 2) DC power - 2 -100 amp hr AGM deep cycle batteries providing12 or 24 volts and fused at 45 amps. The connections are Anderson Powerpole. We have ample interior lights switched in the DC line. 3) A 4500 watt sign wave inverter gasoline generator and a power extension cord to the trailer AC connector.
