Body Panels
All: Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am forced once again to move all the remaining C-Car Body Panels down in Florida. While I did not intend to make this a money winning venture, I cannot continue to drain my limited retirement resources to keep saving this albatross. I have kept the prices at an unreasonable low level for way too long. After this move I will have to at least double the prices on everything. Attached should be a PDF with current prices on the most prolific. This will be good for PU in Orlando this week only. You can contact Larry directly at 407 256 6244 . However, if on the off chance someone here has the room, and is interested in All the Citi/Commuta/Postal Body Panels as a whole please contact me as listed below. Everything should easily fit into one PackRat 12 foot container. I am offering everything currently in Florida for the unreasonably low price of $1,000.00 [cash or check]. It all must be moved no later than this week. I should be in Orlando by Tuesday [7/9/2024], I can even help with the move if interested. Hello, everyone! I am the new owner of one of the rare 1991 Zzipper Sebring 3 wheeler. It is a project vehicle. Anyone with any information on this please let me know. I was advised the following reguarding the Zzipper Slipper doors tracks are UHMWPE Panels MR coated Lexan. Brakes, Bendix as used on Cushman truckster. Batteries were Trojan J 185 or 5sh sweeper batteries 12v. Charger proprietary design built in house. Paint, Dupont acrylic enamel with harder. Rear and front axles from Commuta car and rear axle bearings a trailer hub, for boat trailers. I added some pictures and the body shell has cracks and front axle beam slightly bent and the rear swing arm wheel is broken for the axle. Needs a lot of TLC. Any input would be grateful, thanks in a advance Team members. Carl

Last chance to purchase anyC-Car and Postal body panels at these low prices.
I will be coming back to CB's in Hains City one more time. Tentatively scheduled for Feb 20 - 21, I will post a positive date when I can confirm. Anyone interested in any of these parts, [see attached listings] come with cash and tote it away. Sorry, no shipping, just cash and carry. This will be the last chance to purchase any of them at these low prices. I have not raised my prices since acquiring these parts many years, now. However, due to costs involved in moving and storing them I will be forced to raise prices significantly after this. Please note: I am open to anyone who may be interested in purchasing everything at a very reasonable price, as well. Call or e-mail me as listed below Peter Crisitello 181 Villa Place Rahway, NJ 07065 -2831 Home: (732)574-0776 [no text] Crisitel@... T442163@... T442163@... T442163@...

C-Car and Van NOS and Used EV Body Panels FOR SALE.
C-Car and Van NOS and Used EV Body Panels FOR SALE. After much consideration, I am forced to offer For Sale all of my NOS and used Commuta-Van and Car EV ABS body panels. I have found that in retirement I just can't support saving everything with all the other projects I am currently juggling. Currently housed in Florida I do not have a full count but can assure you there are many more ABS panels and parts than currently shown vehicles on my roster. While most of them are for the Postal-Van, there are a number of the Commuta-Car panels that will also fit the CitiCar. SORRY, THERE ARE NO NOSE/ROOF PANELS AMONG THEM ALL. EXCEPT FOR TWO BROKEN POSTAL VAN ONES. Asking $2,500 for the whole lot. It will take a good-sized box truck to move them all. If interested, I can throw in my 1994 S-10 EV project for an additional $1,000. Attached are pictures of some of what is available. Contact me for any questions you may have. how best to haul a Citicar
2
What recommendations do you have to haul a '75 citicar 400 miles? I have heard of the window falling out due to the wind. What is the weight without batteries? Will it fit inside a UHaul 5x8' enclosed or open trailer? thanks, John

Battery and tire recommendations for Citi Car
17
Hello, I have a working 1975 citi car that hasn't been used for a few years because I didn't want to buy the wrong batteries and I thought they wouldn't last long due to limited use. Now that gas it so high I am thinking maybe now is the time. I have read multiple posts over the last few years about battery options different than the normal golf cart 6v batteries and the required chargers and battery managers. IF you have current estimates for either tires or a battery set please reply so I can consider putting this car into service again. thanks, John

Battery Hookup source, details
6
Hi Jacob and All, BatteryHookup has some great deals in Bolt like modules, not sure which model they came from. But other than size they are Bolt/LG cells in different size packages. I use new Bolt modules in my S-10EV I bought from them at great prices. I've never used a BMS on my Volt modules for 3 yrs without any problem, still perfectly balanced and the Bolt are working out the same. The Bolt module type is much better for a BMS as 240amphr cells vs Volt has to be modules in parallel would need 5x more BMS. I picked them because Volt modules were known to not need a BMS, a costly PITA and took a gamble that Bolt modules would too for overall low cost/kwh. What you do need is a charger that won't go over 4.12vdc/cell x # of cells. Jerry

Instrument Panel Wiring Diagram
24
I have put off going behind the instrument panel but now have some items to fix that require access to the various meters/switches. Has anybody ever done a diagram of just the wires going to the dash, but of course I need a 1981. I can not find a diagram of just the only various parts in many different diagrams. If you don;t know of any I can try asking the group. Jim Morgan

Running a 36V 3.5HP motor @ 48V
8
Hi All- Currently working on a Citicar that has a 36V motor but a 48V charger. Were these models actually driven with 48V to the 36V motor? And I suppose that means I should be following the "48V model" diagrams from this service manual? https://jamz.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Citicar-Service-Manual.pdf The car didn't come with batteries so I cannot tell from that unfortunately. See below for photos of the charger & motor plates: [image: Screen Shot 2022-05-28 at 11.08.13 AM.png] [image: Screen Shot 2022-05-28 at 11.08.43 AM.png] Thank you! Lithium deals, Running a 36V 3.5HP motor @ 48V
Hi James and All, It's fine and comes from the factory that way. I've run my 36vdc nom at 80vdc. DC Motor voltages are suggestions. Just keep amps and RPM in spec. If you haven't bought the batteries yet think about going lithium at not much more cost depending which lead and which EV modules, could cost the same.. Battery Hookup has some good deals that come and go at about $125/kwh lately. A pair of 28vdc modules would match the controller and charger fairly well. Jerry

1980 ComutaCar with very little torque... help?
7
I'm restoring a 1980 Comutacar, and I'm stuck on a problem: While the car can power itself forwards and backwards in my garage, it has very, very little torque. It can not make it up my driveway, which is about 2" of elevation over 15 feet. When testing the driveway climb, the motor pulls about 350A from the controller (with a 48V battery) The specs on the car are as follows: * Curtis 1209B-6402 controller, this is a remanufactured controller, and I've tested it with a string of lights, so it's good. * 4 12V deep cycle batteries. * The motor is the stock 6HP GE field coil motor. * Brakes are fine, I can turn the rear wheels with my hand * There's no voltage drop anywhere in the system, and all the wiring looks great (cool) when I run it for an hour and look at it with a FLIR camera. This is the build log for this project ( https://bbenchoff.github.io/pages/Citicar.html ) , which covers most of the troubleshooting so far. The setup for the car is 48V batteries into the contactors (which are wired up correctly), into the controller, and out to the motor. I've had a few people look at this, compare it to the controller manual, and no one can find anything wrong with the wiring. I took the motor into a shop to get inspected/diagnosed, and that came back fine. The motor, as much as I can tell, is fine. Running the car on jacks makes the wheels spin, quite fast, actually. About 80mph per my laser tach. In this state it draws ~40A with no load, peaking to about 100A at startup. For the driveway test, the controller is pulling ~350A and honestly I have no idea where it's going I've talked to a few people and there seems to be two theories for fixing this. * Somehow, the field coils in the motor aren't clocked right. The symptom of this is the car should have more torque in either the forward or reverse direction; I have not observed this. Also, there's no real way to adjust the 'phase' between the brushes and the field coils. I could swap it 180 degrees, but that would just be the same. * A competing theory is that something is wrong with the diff / transaxel. Here, I have nothing. I flushed the fluid in the diff and replaced it with new oil, so *that's* probably not it. Could it be the bearings? I don't know. The wheels spin freely, and I really can't find a good pic of how the diff is put together (the scan of the citicar manual I have is lacking in this regard). So that's the problem. Any ideas? Anyone have a diff/rear axel for sale?

Citicar sighting on TV.
6
There was a citicar shown very briefly in the CW TV show Naiomi. It is episode 12, broadcast on the CW on May 10. The show is available via streaming through the CW app. It is about 15 to 20 mins in (including commercials). There is an exterior shot of a diner and there is a citicar painted in bright colors sitting in front of it. Kriss Davis, Normal IL.
