ISO Medical providers offering sedation-free colonoscopy
2
Has anyone had a sedation-free colonoscopy in the DC area? I would be interested to know if there are any providers to do that, and your personal experience with such a procedure. If you like, you can write to me personally with your experience at wgorlick at gmail dot com. Thank you in advance, and if there is any interest, I can compile results on an anonymous basis. - Warren

Mark your calendars for National Ice Cream Day THIS Sunday, July 21
I've already posted the "Get Out" event of the week (it's the free Summer Matsuri Festival hosted by the Japan Institute and Culture Center on Saturday, July 20), but if I had a do-over, I'd pick National Ice Cream Day, especially since we have a new ice cream place opening in Woodley Park TODAY! https://www.instagram.com/smizeanddream/p/C9lUN06va_m/ For the full list of places in the DMV that will be observing National Ice Cream Day on Sunday (or sooner, as a few will be offering discounts all weekend), see: https://www.nbcwashington.com/entertainment/the-scene/free-scoops-and-specials-for-national-ice-cream-day-in-the-dc-area/3666882/ If the new Smize & Dream ice cream shop has lines out the door and around the block, you might want to hop on the Metro to Dupont Circle, where Dolcezza is also celebrating the day with ice cream specials. (OK, Dolcezza may have long lines, too, but they've got two decades of experience dishing out scoops and may be more efficient!) While checking out the local news sites that list places around town observing National Ice Cream Day with discounts and/or freebies, I found a link to a news story about the coming of a new ice cream shop to Tenleytown: Ice Cream Jubilee 4620 Wisconsin Ave NW Tenleytown, DC https://www.icecreamjubilee.com/s/store-locator Ice Cream Jubilee currently has a DC location in Georgetown at 3333 M Street NW. If you'd like to know more about National Ice Cream Day beyond where to find participating ice cream shops, here's a site that has the whole scoop: https://nationaltoday.com/national-ice-cream-day/ Enjoy! Posted by; Peggy Robin Cleveland Park Listserv Moderator ------- p.s. Happy to post reader opinions on where to get the best ice cream in or out of the neighborhood! Perfect summertime topic....and differing opinions are sure to be appreciated, and not too heated! Just send in your comments to clevelandpark@groups.io

Update on ANC 3C agenda item: Mural on the corner of Connecticut and Ordway
5
At the meeting ANC 3C voted to not send a letter supporting the project, but it could still go though. I personally was aghast to hear the artist had made no provision to protect the delicate sandstone underneath if at any point they want to remove the mural. The result would be to damage the sandstone. Also the mural would cover art deco architectural detail. The project is funded by the DC Commission on Arts and Humanities. Projects possible can include sculptures, statutes, stain glass, paving patterns, landscape designed projects, custom benches, artistic arches, gates or railings. This is our tax dollars funding this. It's a $75,000 grant. I would be much happier with any of the above over the proposed murals. I wrote to the commission. This is the email I found. kerry.kennedy@... Anyone else who feels this isn't a well thought out proposal may want to write also. They decide on the 22nd of this month. (Any sculptors out there?) ISO Contractor Recommendations to for Minor Kitchen Repairs
Hello Neighbors, I am in search of a trusty contractor to make some repairs in my kitchen. There was a leak in the refrigerator in the unit above mine, and part of the remediation included making a hole in the drywall above my refrigerator to dry the area out. Some baseboard was also removed to aid in the drying process. So I need someone to repair the hole in the drywall, paint over the repairs, and replace the baseboard. Any recommendations would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance, Amie Ingber Wesley Heights aingber909@... [aingber909 @ gmail dot com]

Saturdays in Summer: Return of the English Conversation Group @ Georgetown Library
Saturdays 10-11:30 AM (First session was June 1) https://dclibrary.libnet.info/event/10899872 Is English your second language, and are you hoping to improve it? Would you like to know more about American culture and current events? Would you like to practice speaking English in a small and comfortable group? The Georgetown Library has revived its weekly English Conversation Group, every Saturday morning from 10:00-11:30 am in the Library. The first session was on Saturday, June 1. The group is led by Professor Catharin Dalpino, who has previously led English conversation groups in the Library. Questions? 1. What topics will the Georgetown English Conversation Group discuss? Any topics that interest group members! To get us talking, every week we will read a brief article on current issues or aspects of American culture. Participants can also practice their language skills by making presentations to the group on topics of their choice. 2. What should my level of English proficiency be to participate in the group? All are welcome in the group, but English speakers at the intermediate level or above will get the most out of the discussion. 3. How can I join the group? New members can join just by coming to the Library on Saturday mornings at 10:00-11:30 am. However, if you would like to register in advance or have questions, feel free to contact Wendell Kellar at the Library at wendell.kellar @ dc.gov. Participants in the group will also be given contact information for Professor Dalpino. Give a 1.5-year-old fully housebroken pup a permanent home
Over the last couple of months, we have been fostering a 40-pound neutered pup named Toro. He is a smart, sweet, strong, totally non-aggressive pup who plays beautifully with other dogs and people of all ages and likes nothing more than fetching and chewing all manner of balls. He sleeps through the night and is a real cuddlebunny, who walks perfectly on a leash. Unfortunately, my wife and I go back to work in the office pretty much full time starting after Labor Day and have an extensive travel schedule all fall, so it isn't fair to have him home alone all day. He is fully vaccinated and does great with dog walkers and house sitters. I hope you will consider giving this sweet boy a long-term foster or permanent home.
