Norton Noiseless feedback amplifiers. Has anyone modeled them.
34
Has anyone made a model of "common base transformer feedback (CBTF) amplifiers, and also known as common base noiseless feedback (CBNF) amplifiers"? As described in Dallas Lankford's paper. https://web.archive.org/web/20070226191335/http://www.kongsfjord.no/dl/Amplifiers/Ultralinear%202N5109%20And%202N3053%20Amplifiers.pdf With special attention to the unknown characteristics detailed in the last half of page 2. Thanks, Mikek

Roys OPM Transmission Line Model
3
#T-line
Greetings colleagues. I have a transmission line model that has been very useful for me. Maybe it will be useful to you. I have upload Roy's OPM Transmission Line.zip for your perusal. It includes a symbol and sub-circuit file foe a transmission line with frequency dependent skin effect and dielectric absorption. It is differential mode only; it is an open circuit to common mode. I find that it reproduces the data sheet attenuation of a variety of coaxial cables. It seems to be a good model for good transmission lines. It might not be so great for waterlogged pulp insulated telephone cable. It is a wide band model. It works for any length of transmission line. It can be used with both AC and transient analysis. It does use Laplace elements, but it seems well behaved in my use. It is based mostly on the secondary line parameters (impedance, velocity, loss). There are several numbered examples. They may make most sense if examined in numerical order. I also include 4 gaussian pulse sources that work for both transient and AC analysis. Internally, each source has two sources that add. One source only produces output during transient analysis and the other only during AC analysis. The AC source uses a Laplace Transform element such that if you view the output of the AC source using the FFT option, you will see the same time domain response as the transient source. All rights to the files uploaded in that zip file are released under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). To me that means that you can do whatever you want with these files if you give me attribution and you do not create any liability for me. If you have problems with the model, it is probably better to email me directly instead of cluttering up the group.

Modelling of a DC Contactor
10
The goal is to model a dc contactor for a precharge circuit. Should this be designed as a voltage-dependent voltage source that closes the contactor? Or can this be done in a more representative model of the real life behavior? Link to Contactor Datasheet: https://dc-components.com/wp-content/uploads/GIGAVAC-P125-MiniTACTOR.pdf

Ltspice *24* update failure from remote VPS
3
I just installed the LTspice *24* into my remote VPS. All works fine, but not the *sync relase*. I received one error message indicating that the *release.log.gz* file can not be accessed (*trouble on accessing...*). From the VPS`s Internet Explorer I can download this file. I realized that into LTspice file settings the LTspice URL starts with *http* instead of *httpS*, in spite of the error message indicate the *httpS* protocol. I realized that I can not change the URL settings phrase, only select other one (the old Linear Technology we site...). Could someone help me in order to fix this issue? Regards.

Ultrasound transducer modeling - NanoVNA, s2spice inside
7
#S-parameters
I guys, I'm working on some ultrasound transducer signal conditioning (1-port device for emission/reception). I have a NanoVNA to measure transducer impedance and I'm able to use these measurements with a custom subcircuit in LTSpice. Question 1 : looks like s2spice is not able to create 1-port device library because it asks me to choose between 2 and 8 ports. Why ? Is there a way to convert s1p file to LTSpice 1-port device ? For now, I created a Python script on my own to create it but if there is something generic on the shelve it would be better. Question 2 : - During the emission step, the transducer is a load for the high voltage driver, I can simulate it "easily" with LTSpice adding my subcircuit in parallel => cool - But during the echoes reception, the transducer acts as a voltage source (few mV) and I don't know how I am supposed to use my "impedance" subcircuit. In serie with a volatge source ? In parallel ? Just don't use it ? Any help on these two topics would be really appreciated <3

.MEAS RMS error
14
I have this simple circuit: https://groups.io/g/LTspice/files/Temp/MEAS_RMS_error.asc .meas rms command gives wrong values when injecting DC+AC signal, so must have to calculate the average of the signal Vm to calculate the difference between signal and Vm to calculate RMS In the example there is a square waveform 0-1V which RMS value is sqrt((0.5^2*n/n))=0.5, not 0.707!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Emitter Follower Oscillation
107
Hi, I am trying to model emitter follower oscillation to learn how to use LT Spice to determine when to use a base resistor and when it is not necessary. I have tried several designs that I know oscillate, but could not get them to do so in the simulator. I tried the Cshunt parameter, and I tried adding capacitance to the base and emitter. In particular, a current mirror made with KSC3503, KSA1220, and other devices oscillate without base resistors (I learned this the hard way). Has anyone had success modeling emitter follower oscillation? Thanks, Morty

simulating relay PC375 to safeguard voltage circuit
31
Hello, I have a relay based circuit as shown in the photo below and the full schematics is in the attached document ff3. The circuits based on PC375 relay, how does it work? Why they need all of those diodes and resistors? There is no spice model so i am having trouble to know if this acctually will work. is there some spice model for this relay i could try to simulate the relay circuit? https://pickercomponents.com/pdf/Relays/PC375.pdf https://groups.io/g/LTspice/files/Temp/john23/fff3.pdf https://groups.io/g/LTspice/photo/294510/3804313?p=Created%2C%2C%2C20%2C2%2C0%2C0

Mac version
3
#Mac
Hello all, I installed the last version for Mac (17.2.4) on a Mac Mini (Intel) running macOS Monterrey (12.7.4). After a simulation run (.tran and .op) I can plot node voltages but cannot plot device currents. Hovering the cursor over a device (any) doesn't show the current probe. Has the feature been removed from the Mac version? I would appreciate any help. Best regards, Alex.

Modelling the impedance of the Murata GRM035R60J475ME15#
18
Hello all, I need a bit of help with the modelling of a capacitors impedance. Namely, the Murata GRM035R60J475ME15#. I am trying to get from the simulation a similar curve with the |Z| curve depicted at: https://ds.murata.co.jp/simsurfing/mlcc.html?reqtype=open_parts&partnumbers=%5B%22GRM035R60J475ME15#%22%5D&oripartnumbers=%5B%22GRM035R60J475ME15#%22%5D&graphop=mainall&focuspartnumberonlist=true&lcid=en-us However, I cannot get the right "parasitic" elements of the capacitor model that would result in the same curve. I have loaded in the GRM035R60J475ME15#_model.zip file which contains: - the .asc simulation file (including the capacitor parameters I am currently using) - the .plt file so as to configure the plot with the limits similar to the plot shown on the Murata website (for easier visual comparison of the plots) - an .emf picture file indicating which areas of the curve I am having trouble with I would greatly appreciate some help with this model. Whereas I am able to easy manipulate the point of the minimum impedance at 5GHz (by changing the ESR and the series inductance), the other elements are more difficult to adjust to my liking. For example: - I can hardly make the impedance at low frequency (100Hz) bulge without changing the capacitance itself, which, however, needs to be fixed at 4.7uF. - I cannot make the curve in the simulation simultaneously go through the following two points (through which the curve indicated on the Murata website does go through): 0.8Ohm @ 1GHz and 4.7Ohm @ 6GHz Best Regards, Cristian

How to measure phase of output signal for plotting instantaneous frequency
7
I am trying to design a pulse generator using Nonlinear transmission line. For the output signal, I am getting a Gaussian pulse shape like wave with some ringing for which I need to plot instantaneous frequency to understand what frequency has the main contribution in certain points. How do I measure the phase of the signal through LTspice so that I can export it to plot instantaneous frequency?

Derating factor modelling
8
Hello everyone, My previous question wasn't very clear, so I'll allow myself to start a new subject. I am trying to create a capacitor model that would take into account its derating factor. The derating factor lowers the capacitance as the capacitor's voltage increases. Do you have any idea to achieve that ? My attempt to create this model is on this link https://groups.io/g/LTspice/files/Temp/Cap_Derating_factor.zip, but I would be glad to have other ideas too. I also supposed that such model has already been made by someone in the past... Thank you for your future answers and the time you'll spend trying to help me.

Voltage controlled switch and smooth curve
13
Hello there, I am working on a non-linear model for a capacity on Ltspice. I am using two voltage controlled switches for that, that turn off (resp. on) at the same time, to change the branch used by the current at some precise voltage. I managed to have a curve of the expected shape. My issue is that once my switches turn off (resp. on) it creates an abrupt change in the behaviour of my system (which is normal) and I would like to smooth it. I believe that the level 2 of voltage controlled switches could help me to make the transition between the two switches smoother. I tried a few things with this level 2 settings but I don't fully get how it works and didn't manage to change anything. If some of you have advice / solution, I would be glad to read them. Thanks in advance !

Putting a .FOUR statement in a measurement script
15
It used to be possible to do .FOUR in post-post processing by putting the Fourier parameters in a file and use the menu command File=>Execute .MEAS Script after the simulation ran. Am I remembering correctly? This doesn't work in the LTspice 17.1.15 that I have. It still works to put .param statements in the script, but lines with ".four" and ".fourier" are silently skipped. (Actually, what I'm really after is the THD of a signal, a by-product of .FOUR.) -marcel

PWL source with indented lines on schematic (was: Repeat a BURST voltage source every 25ms)
20
Nice implementation, Dennis!
I wish it were possible to indent this in multiple lines *on the schematic representation*, in the value field of a V Source!
Dave
PWL +
VALUE_SCALE_FACTOR=30 +
REPEAT FOREVER +
REPEAT FOR 5 +
(0 0 +1n 1 +500u 1 +1n 0 +3m 0) +
ENDREPEAT +
(+{25m-5*3.5m} 0) +
ENDREPEAT
Sent: Wednesday, July 03, 2024 8:35 AM
To: LTspice@groups.io
Subject: EXTERNAL: Re: [LTspice] Repeat a BURST voltage source every 25ms
This can be done with a single PWL source using the undocumented syntax features shown at Undocumented LTspice - LTwiki-Wiki for LTspice<https://ltwiki.org/index.php?title=Undocumented_LTspice#Piecewise_Linear_Sources_.28PWL.29>
V1 sig 0 PWL VALUE_SCALE_FACTOR=30 REPEAT FOREVER REPEAT FOR 5 (0 0 +1n 1 +500u 1 +1n 0 +3m 0) ENDREPEAT (+{25m-5*3.5m} 0) ENDREPEAT
.tran 100m
The VALUE_SCALE_FACTOR scales the 0 and 1 levels to 0-30 V. The nested REPEATS are used to generate the requested waveform.
Note, I neglected the 1 ns rise/fall times in the timing of the 500 us on time, 3.5 ms repeat time, and 25 ms repeat time. This could easily be corrected if the timing needs to be exact.

S-parameters in LTspice
23
#S-parameters
Hello, It's very interesting that I don't find anything about this. Can it really be that there is no way to have an S-parameter block in LTspice? (I know that we can get S-parameters from ac analysis but I would like to insert a model based on s parameters). Of course, I can convert the S parameters to Z or Y parameters and use a two-port model for just one frequency but this feels pretty clumsy. Thanks, Lukas PS: I am aware of the limitations of such a block like frequency range which would need to be extrapolated somehow. But I found s parameter blocks in other spice simulators.
