I purchased a SAA2N from R & L in 2023. The actual unit was mfgd by Zeenko. I have FW Version 1.3.07. Can anyone confirm that I can upgrade the firmware, what the new version is, and where I can obtain said firmware? 73, Greg N9GB

HP and NARDA ATTENUATORS
Jim: I have a number of HP and Narda N-type attenuators. If, for example, I use a 30 dB attenuator (60 dB RL) within its rated frequency range as a load for cal., where is the measurement plane? I have the "precision" HP cal. standards, but I'm just curious. I got tired of trying to keep track of all those little SMA calibration standards and adapters that I keep with my NanoVNA, so I made a thing! It's a small pcb that uses common 1/4" wide edge mount SMA connectors to keep the calibration standards and adapters neatly organized. A couple of pics are attached. Hi All I haven't had much time to work with my new NanoVna-H4. I made a UnUn that I want to test on the NanoVna. When calibrating do I include the sma cable(that's included with the NanoVna) and the sma to uhf adaptor? 73 Ken VA3ABN

NanoVNA H WHITE SCREEN RECOVERY First, this procedure is for white screen recovery due to installing the wrong FW, which is one of the main causes of white screen. 1. Turn nva off. 2. Remove back of case. 3. Short the "boot pad" to the "vcc pad" next to it. While holding the short, turn the nva on. NOTE; The following is done while the nva is still on after removing the short on boot and vcc pads. Make sure you have the correct FW!!! H for H!!!! 4. Leaving the nva on, remove the short. Your nva is now back to the DFU state and out of boot loop. 5. Reassemble the back case. 6. Connect the nva to the CPU or phone, if using Android app, proceed to update the FW. 7. After update, turn nva off then back on. If the white screen is off and nva turns on correctly, your done. 8. If your nva is still in white screen mode, again make sure you installed the correct version of FW. If so, you have a bigger problem that requires trouble shooting and physical repair. Clyde KC7BJE

Recovering NanoVNA H4 from "USB device (device descriptor request failed)"

Hello Folks, Saw couple topics related with "USB device (device descriptor request failed)" on this group, at least two of them - similar to what I'm facing right now - seems to have no solution. When trying to put my NanoVNA H4 in DFU mode (click the wheel + power on), Windows 10 would show it under device manager as "USB device (device descriptor request failed)". Other than trying to upgrade firmware, the device seems to be working properly. Tried unsuccessfully couple solutions found here and there: - Right clicked "USB device (device descriptor request failed)" and point to installation folders of "DfuSe Demo V3.0.6" and "STM32 Cube Programmer 2.16.0", trying to discover DFU drivers - Excluded "USB device (device descriptor request failed)" from USB power saving - Entered DFU from NanoVNA H4 advanced configuration menu; entered DFU mode by shunting the BOOT0 and the adjacent VDD pins - Also tried on macOS and Linux... The NanoVNA H4 seems to have no problem entering DFU using one of available modes to do so, but somehow, once in that mode, wrongly presenting himself to OS. I believe during the last firmware upgrade some part of the NanoVNA H4 has been wiped / wrongly flashed etc..., ruining the USB flashing interface. While further googling this issue, I found "nanoVNA-H – recovery" (https://owenduffy.net/blog/?p=16699) that describes a procedure to flash NanoVNA H, using SWD interface. Such procedure consist in connecting an external STM32 programer (STLINK-V3SET) to the pins SWDIO, SWCLK, GND and NRST present in both NanoVNA H and H4. Did anyone tried recovering NanoVNA H/H4 from this issue using STM32 programmer? (sorry for the long post, just want to be clear on my ask) Regards, Anaxi

*I have been struggling to get HF antennas at Crosslands (Kennett Square) due to the constraints here (like at most communities).* *I have an end-fed 60 ft wire low to ground for NVIS that is working well on 40m but I wanted something that would put out a low-angle DX signal* *on 30m thru 10 meters. * * * *I tried setting up a 18 ft Cushcraft (aluminum tubing) vertical antenna (normally tuned to 20m single band) but fed via a 9:1 Palomar UNUN* *and 50 ft or RG213 with a choke at the shack to help knock down RFI in the shack. * *Then attached (so far) one 33 ft radial (I had used for 40m) and lo and behold - it works - /fairly low SWR on SIX BANDS from 30m thru 10m with no traps /* *let's now see if I can get any QSO's on these bands -* *de k3eui barry*

Ultrasound transducer modeling - NanoVNA, s2spice inside

Hi guys, I'm working on ultrasound transducer signal conditioning (1-port device for emission/reception). I have a NanoVNA to measure transducer impedance and I'm able to simulate it in LTSpice using FREQ with a custom subcircuit. Question 1 : it looks like s2spice is not able to create a 1-port device because I need to choose between 2 and 8 ports on the CLI. Why ? Is there a way to do this ? Question 2 : - During the emission step, the transducer is a load for the high voltage driver, I can "easily" use my impedance measures with the custom subcircuit in LTSpice => cool. - During echoes reception, the transducer acts as a voltage source of a few mV. How am I supposed to apply the transducer impedance ? Serie with a voltage source ? As a load in parallel ? Still not clear for me. Any help on these two topics would be really appreciated <3

Measuring impedance on balanced line

I'm new to the device. The goal is to measure the impedance an antenna driven by balanced line (here window line) without a balun. At the moment connecting one side of the line to center of Port 1 and the other side to device ground sounds reasonable if the VNA itself is unconnected to rf ground. There's a way to set the Smith chart reference impedance to the hypothetical 420 ohm line, I think. Thanks, Chris, NQ8Z

NanoVNA-App Smith Chart view

Hi, Apologies if this is a basic question. I'm using the NanoVNA app, and it works fine. However, I have a question regarding the use of the Smith chart view. The center scroll wheel on the mouse zooms the plotted Smith chart in and out, however, the chart grid and annotations does not zoom, which means there is a discrepancy between the plotted output and the grid/annotations. I just can't see an option to 'reset' the zoom of the chart. I'm sure it must be present, but just can't seem to see where that option is. Several times I've accidentally hit the scroll wheel, and then I'm stuck because I can't find a way to reset it back. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks.

Nanovna-H4 Ham Band display

HelloI have a Nanovna-h4. Sweeping a multi band EFHW antenna 3-30Mhz for SWR to see how things line up with the Ham bands. I bought a Nanovna-H from China. The language was Chinese. To make it English I upgrade the firmware. Before updating the firmware the display was ok and horizontal. But after the update, the display is having some issues. It turns into vertical. I can't see the menu also. I tried to search for fixes over the internet but found none that would solve my issue. Has anyone faced the same issue and resolved it? Can anyone help me to solve this issue?

Bluetooth interface?

Does anyone know if a device such as this would work between the NanoVNA and a computer running NanoVNA Saver? I would like to connect the VNA to the feedpoint of an antenna and hoist it to height, then see the behavior on the computer from the ground.
